Ruby Radford, who had originally lived at number 15, lived in this bungalow in her old age, with Hannah next door keeping an eye on her. Ruby was a nanny, a trained Norland Nanny, Hannah thinks, and travelled abroad with the family – the Burdetts of Westwick Hall.

A builder, James Arnold, bought the bungalow from Ruby’s niece, intending to demolish and build two houses. Planning was refused because the land is in the Conservation Area, but permission given to extend the bungalow.

The 1965 electoral role lists the occupants of number 7 as Radford, Bertha H. and Radford, Evelyn R. (This was Ruby, who lived 1902-1998.)
