Concerning this building, R. Warboys wrote:
Dr J Ravensdale considered this building to be one of the oldest in the village apart from the Church. It was built of clunch but fell down in the 1980s. The door was a magnificent oak door with very ornamental hinges and a large lock. In the Episcopal Visitation of 1685 the report on the Church stated “the north door is in a sad state and should be replaced”. The north door evidently was not replaced but was filled in and I have wondered if the door from the Church was used on this building. When the building fell down I tried to buy the door but Mr Chapman said others also wanted it, and so he thought he had better keep it himself.
The photographs below are of the same building.
